They say you will just know
I'm sure it is the same for many stories like ours... my now husband and I both decided to give online dating one last try when we finally met 'the one'. I was searching one day when I came across "Irishchef". His write up tugged at me so I sent him a smile. Much to my surprise he smiled back right away! I was so surprised I actually waited a couple of days before responding. I hadn't actually bought credits before but I figured this was someone I wanted to talk to, so took the leap. We went from a couple messages back and forth, to chatting on msn, then on the phone to meeting within a couple of days.
Over the next week we went on five dates! Everything just seemed to click and I started to think, so this is what they mean when they say "you'll just know".
The first 6 months of our relationship definitely had its challenges - because of our work schedules we were never able to spend an entire day together. That all changed when we decided to take our first trip together - a whole week together in California! We figured if we could make it through that then we could make it through anything. It was an incredible trip and we realized that we were not only great as a couple, we were incredible friends and a fabulous team.
A year from the day we met we were in my hometown to visit family. We were in the middle of a family BBQ when Chris asked me to talk a little walk. We barely got to the end of the driveway when it started raining so we huddled under a tree. I asked "have you had enough yet?", referring to the fact that he had just met about 15 members of my extended family for the first time. He replied, "no, in fact I was hoping for about another 50-60 years." He pulled the ring out of his pocket and asked me to be his wife.
It was an incredible moment and extra special because we were able to celebrate with the family right away.
We were married this past August in front of family and friends - the best celebration we could have hoped for.
I think what makes us so successful as a couple is the fact that we offer each other unconditional support, love, and understanding. We challenge each other and yet we can still be completely silly, knowing the other will always be there to laugh right alongside.
We just knew, and we have never questioned it.
