We Just Knew

Mike and I met on Lavalife at the end of November, 2007. I was 33 at the time and he was 35. I had dated several guys on and off on lavalife for about a year and no one had ever been a true match for me. I saw Mike's profile and it was short and funny and he looked cute, so I smiled at him. The weird thing is that he was from St. Catharines and I was from Toronto and would never have tried to contact someone so far away, so there must have been something special about him. He emailed and we started talking after that. For the first week, we talked every night for about 4 hours on the phone. Before we even met, we felt like we were dating. We just knew that we were right for each other. When we planned on meeting, we actually booked an entire weekend of activities together. My typical first date would be coffee or drinks somewhere, but again, I just knew something was special before we even met. The first night we met, Mike was in Niagara Falls and I was in Ajax, but Mike drove all the way out to see me late at night. The very first thing he did when he saw me was kiss me. It was as if we were already dating and had never kissed, so it had to be done. It was perfect! That was it for both of us. We just knew right way.

Since that night, Mike and I have built an amazing relationship. We have made it through tough times together in a short time span (including Mike's car being stolen on one of our first dates, renovating and selling houses together, losing jobs, and trying to get pregnant)but that only made us stronger and we have loved every moment of our relationship.

We bought a house together in Oakville less than 2 months after we met and moved there in July of 2008. Mike proposed in December of 2008 and we were married in a beautiful ceremony in Cancun in May 2009 (right when the swine flu broke out, causing hotel changes and guest cancellations - but we wouldn't change a thing). Mike and I are now expecting our first child in May 2010 and are so excited to be parents and share our love by building a family together.

Mike and I consider ourselves very lucky to have found each other and to have known right away that we were meant to be together. We can't wait to see what the future brings for us.
