Love full of Laughter

Life is all about timing; love even more so. When Lavalife worked its magic on the two of us, it felt like time slowed down. Slowing down just enough to offer a glimpse of an ideal love realized.

Reality was that both Jane and I were running in circles trying to find love through traditional means. It turned out that the two of us were skeptical of online dating. It was due to the insistence of our respective friends, that we ended up here on Lavalife. We were far from being early adopters, Jane and I always have this knack for being fashionably late.

And that is how our love story started; fashionably late. I sent her a smile and a message one November night in 2005. She took her sweet time and finally responded in the next year. It was a blistering cold Monday in February when our eyes finally met. She was worth the wait and windchill. The one thing we still laugh about that first date was after walking her to her car, I hid in my father's beat up old truck with a non working heater. Did I mention it was freezing cold that day? Lo and behold, she came driving by looking for me. Looking back, I guess she WAS really interested in me.

Countless cafe and dinner rendezvous's later, we became comfortable with each other. Soon that comfort turned into trust and that is when I met her daughter (now our daughter) Melina. Three years on, I cannot fathom life without being part of the Three Musketeers.

Together, Jane and I were realizing that glimpse of happiness. We went about turning that glimpse into a panoramic view. We got married in 2009 without the finances to effect a ceremony or a reception. To this day we still joke about doing this whole marriage thing backwards: first comes love, second comes marriage, third comes the show & honeymoon before the engagement ring and party. It is still tentative.

I was her Clown Prince and she, my Muse. The love and laughter we shared was our secret weapon. We depend on it more each day as things around us became more challenging.

A part of us died inside when we found out that we can't have another child. Yet, Jane was there for me when my younger brother suffered kidney failure and I underwent testing as a living donor. I held Jane in my arms when her father succumbed to cancer. We comforted each other as the economy saw us gradually losing both our jobs. When we had to sell our home and move in with family, our most valued possession were our fond memories.

Even though our lifestyle was greatly curtailed, our love grew and we turned up the laughter. This is the defining moment for us as lovers, soul mates, life partners and partners in crime. I can't imagine battling through without Jane inspiring me on. She is living proof that a dream can come true. We haven't taken our eyes off what our hearts both dream of.

Jane opened up my eyes to world travel, world foods, and world music. She taught me to take more interest in my health and less interest in what others think. In return I somehow mastered the art of massaging her sore neck and back in my sleep. I owe so much to her generosity that I am in the red when it comes to her love.

She keeps reminding me how selfless I am in caring bout others and understanding their concerns. Jane is convinced that I can be a very loving person. Individually this can be seen as a weakness, but when you share it with someone, its strong enough to build a foundation.

Jane shares her love of Melina with me so I can be a member of the huggy-buggy club, just-in-time school drop offs, and Rock Band jam sessions set to "EASY". Every time the three of us are together, our combined smiles are so bright that it melts away any worries.

We're making the best of it by becoming a well oiled machine of three to cope with the changes. Jane and I vowed "NO" to being boring or letting ourselves and the passion go.

Jane and I found each other with the help of Lavalife. Even though circumstances beyond our control timed themselves badly into our lives, our love story full of laughter began with impeccable timing.
